ARCHITECTURE DESIGN STUDIO VI
Architecture Design Studio IV is the ninth sequence (the eight sequence is substituted by a Professional Internship) of the architectural design studios and applied design basics program at CEDAC in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The program is designed to be taken in modules through the course of the degree, aligning classes that will meet the standard of presentation along with the studio.
Studio VI, has no specific field of architecture as a focus. Instead it is labeled as a multidisciplinary studio, meaning it can focus on any range of complex architectural fields. For this studio Prof. Carlos Pratts (R.A. / CAH) and Prof. Luiz Lainez (R.A. / CAH) selected the design of the national headquarters for the Honduran Housing and Urban Development Department, CONAVI (Corporacion Nacional de La Vivienda).
This particular project focused from urban design solutions to developing meaningful architectural solutions in the banking /corporation/offices/library disciplines. The studio focused mostly on the relationship of each space and the reuse of an urban infill lot, rezoning and urban space interaction with pedestrians through a plaza.
Lectures in this course include the study of human interaction and behavioral aspects related to public spaces and offices. Other lectures included review of the IBC regulations and the Honduran governments standards to government buildings.

Concept
Conceptual design and inspiration for this particular CONAVI project, began with the naming and branding of this Honduran Entity.
The acronym beginning with the letter "C" inspired the footprint for the floor plan. The principles of natural circulation and day-lighting were also used in this project; the "C" plan was then mirrored and the circulation inserted. For this particular project, the circulation in the building was zoned in the four cardinal points in the purpose of facilitating the movement and clear identification of them.
The "C" concept then transcended into a building with a grand central courtyard for recreation and views, this which also allowed for the creation of Honduran landscaping and apply the concept of xeriscaping.
